Thursday 16 July 2026 Exam Results Days August 2026 AS/A level results can be collected from H1 between 8.30am and 9.30am on Thursday 13th August 2026. Please enter school via the humanities corridor to access H1 room.Students must pick up exam results in person. Wednesday 8 July 2026 Summer Concert 2026 Yesterday we had an amazing evening at our School Summer Concert!A huge well done to all of our incredible pupils for their fantastic performances. Your hard work, confidence, and enthusiasm shone through, and you should all be so proud of yourselves.A special mention to John for his beautiful Welsh recital of “Dy Garu o Bell”. Well done also to Year 13 Brian, who recently achieved a Grade 8 Distinction in Singing, and performed his rendition of “Beautiful City”. It was also fantastic to see our brass group in action.A big thank you to our dedicated staff, supportive families, and everyone who came along to cheer. Your encouragement means so much and helped make the evening so special. See you all at our Musical “Beauty and the Beast” in November. Tickets are now available.

Friday 26 June 2026 Year 6 Meet the Tutor - Tuesday 30th June 4-5pm This Meet the Tutor event is an opportunity for students in year 6 and their parents to discuss any concerns you may have before starting at the Newtown Campus of Newtown High School. Key members of staff including the Head of Key Stage, Headteacher and Family Liaison Officer will be in attendance.

Thursday 4 June 2026 Women in STEM Day - 15th May On the 15th May a group of Year 8 students attended a fantastic Women in STEM day at Wrexham University. This inspiring opportunity, fully funded by Reaching Wider, gave students the chance to explore careers in science, technology, engineering and maths, and to meet role models working in these fields. Students were able to extract DNA, try their hand at coding and have talks from Xplore and Dr Helen.

Tuesday 17 March 2026 Year 8 wellbeing and football sessions To promote mental wellbeing, resilience, teamwork and self care, we were chosen as a secondary partner school for Newtown Football Association.Every year 8 class had a wellbeing and football session with the emphasis on enjoyment, participation and confidence building. The day was thoroughly enjoyable, and we would like to say a huge diolch yn fawr to Finlay Cullen for all his hard work and dedication to the day.

Friday 19 December 2025 Newtown High School announces appointment of new Headteacher, Mrs Havard Newtown High School is delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Havard as the new Headteacher, overseeing both John Beddoes and Newtown campuses. Mrs Havard has successfully led one campus as Acting Head and will now take on the role of Headteacher across the entire school.Mrs Havard brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to the school community. Her leadership during her tenure as Acting Head has been instrumental in driving progress and fostering a positive learning environment.Speaking about her new role, Mrs Havard said: “I am honoured to take on the position of Headteacher for both campuses. This is an exciting new chapter for our school, and I look forward to working with staff, students, and families to build on our successes and continue moving the school forward. Thursday 18 December 2025 Year 9 Newsletter Earlier this term, a group of Year 9 students were lucky enough to have the opportunity to work with local, award-winning journalist David Williams, co-founder and director of MyTown Media Ltd (which delivers the hyper-local news services of MyNewtown and MyWelshpool). He worked with them to provide expert advice and guidance as they put together their very own special edition of the school newsletter, to highlight what they think are the best aspects of life at Newtown High School.Today they welcomed David back to the school to share the final version of their newsletter. We're sure you'll agree that they have done a fantastic job! They have worked so hard on this project, and we are very proud of them all. Thank you also to David for giving his time this term to come in and work with us.

Thursday 18 December 2025 Newtown High School Celebrates Removal from Estyn Review John Beddoes and Newtown Campuses are delighted to announce the exciting news that the school has been officially removed from Estyn Review. The Estyn team have recognised the further hard work that has been put in place since their visit in October 2023 towards the recommendations. This achievement marks a significant milestone in our ongoing journey of improvement and excellence.

Tuesday 18 November 2025 Year 9 media workshop A group of our Year 9 students have been upskilling their media know-how whilst working on a special project to promote Newtown High School. As part of this, we were very fortunate to receive a visit from local award-winning journalist David Williams, co-founder and director of MyTown Media Ltd (the hyper-local news service behind MyNewtown and MyWelshpool). He spent time talking to the students about his inspiring career in the media, including his varied experiences in international sports journalism and his time as media advisor to HRH Prince Feisal Al Hussein of Jordan.

Thursday 6 November 2025 World Skills UK Competition In 2025, for the first time the World Skills UK competition is held in Wales. Students from the Newtown Campus were invited to witness the passing of the World Skills UK torch relay, passing on to the next generation of competitors.Students got to take part in Catering Activities, tours of the facilities and on-site restaurant, introduction into different courses available in Further Education, the chance to watch live practical cooking demonstrations including Crêpes Suzette and mocktails and most importantly sampling a range of different foods.

Tuesday 21 October 2025 Pearl of Africa Choir On Monday 20th October The Pearl of Africa Choir came to our Newtown Campus to do a performance for years 7 and 8 in assembly, then workshops with year 8 all day. This was followed by a concert in the hall in the evening.
